2026-01-21 10:31:22 In industrial scenarios, the continuous operation capability of equipment directly determines production efficiency and operation and maintenance costs. As a core storage component, the stability of industrial-grade memory cards is key to ensuring continuous equipment operation. MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures), as the core quantitative indicator for measuring stability, can objectively reflect product reliability and serve as an important reference for industrial users in selection. However, most users have misunderstandings about its definition, test standards, and applications, easily misled by false parameters.

MTBF refers to the average time between two consecutive failures of a product under normal operating conditions, measured in hours. A higher value indicates stronger stability and longer trouble-free operation time. The MTBF calculation of industrial-grade memory cards is based on rigorous test data, deriving the average trouble-free time by simulating long-term industrial operating environments and counting failure frequencies within a specified time. After rigorous tests including high-low temperature cycles, vibration, and electromagnetic compatibility, their MTBF generally exceeds 1 million hours, with high-end models reaching 2 to 3 million hours.
MTBF testing must follow strict industry standards, not virtual values marked by enterprises. Current mainstream standards include MIL-STD-810 (military standard) and IEC 60068 (IEC standard). During testing, actual industrial operating conditions are simulated, and operating status is continuously monitored to count failure times. It should be noted that MTBF is a statistical average, not the actual trouble-free operation time. Its core value is to judge reliability differences between products through horizontal comparison. Test data should be issued by third-party authoritative institutions; self-tested results by enterprises lack credibility.
Different industrial scenarios have varying MTBF requirements. Critical equipment such as CNC machine tools, medical imaging equipment, and energy control terminals require industrial-grade memory cards with MTBF ≥1 million hours, and high-end scenarios can upgrade to ≥2 million hours. Non-critical equipment like ordinary surveillance and advertising machines can choose MTBF ≥500,000 hours to control costs. When selecting, prioritize products with clear MTBF values and test standards, avoiding inferior products labeled "industrial-grade" without MTBF specifications. Combine with other parameters such as wide temperature range and ECC capability for comprehensive judgment.
